A web-based platform for monitoring, structuring and visualizing the online response to Rio 2016 Olympic Games on Twitter
After the Olympics, the project continued to expand. OBSERVATÓR!O2016 became a digital memory of imagery and commentary on Rio-2016, shared on Twitter. Since the data collected were stored in their entirety, future data analysis and visualization are possible. In this sense, a partnership between VISGRAF and the Computing Institute of UFF (Federal Fluminense University) was set and involved deep learning concepts and techniques for classifying images (sporting disciplines and torch relay).
A second website was originated from this new research approach and consists on experiments on Deep Learning and Rio-2016 images.
We also released a database website where all data gathered about the Rio 2016 Olympic Games can be found, including an API Rest for accessing the results of our image classification using a Deep Learning model. For a full API access please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org.
